Abottsholme

Postby Kevin N Bayliss » 22 Jan 2017, 17:42

It's not looking good for the weekend to go ahead.
The numbers that have registered interest is nowhere near to what is required for the event to be a success.
So unless there is a dramatic uptake in the last few days of January then I will have to cancel this Scott meeting.

As per the committee meeting published in February Yowl (posted in the next day or two) Im afraid this event will be cancelled due to the lack of participants at this time. Kev

Well, what a bloody tragedy. Thank you Kev for all your efforts - shame on the membership that can't
be bothered to support our core event. The SOC is diminished by this outcome.

Mike I quite agree, what I would like to know is how the committee can insist number must be known by the end of January. other years the booking form has not gone out till april. Eddie said that even then booking was very slow and didn't pick up till the last few weeks. Eric

Hi Richard there is, its up to the membership to let there voices be heard loud and clear and let the committee know that Abottsholme is wanted, then turn out in force and make it a record turnout just to prove it Otherwise we may loose the annual do altogether Eric.

Correction to spelling! (should read):
May I respectfully ask our President to comment? This is so important.

Any chance of piggy-backing on one of the other clubs? I think the Velo owners meet on a campsite near Burntwood for a weekend maybe with another one-make club. Abbotsholme is perfect though, pity to lose it, you would have thought that one of the other clubs would have been keen to join us.

If we want to piggyback on to the Velocette event I would suggest we make contact sooner rather than later, I don't know how much crossover there is with SOC/VOC/NI members. Roger Franklin is the chairman ( thoroughly nice bloke)

Years ago, I think it was New Imperial owners who piggy-backed with the Velo owners at Stanford Hall.
