There is a Virus on the homepage, my Firewall tells me this!
Virus: Trojan-Clicker.HTML.IFrame.ee.
I too collected this virus on my PC several days ago. I e-mailed the moderator about it but it is still there.
I also did an Internet search and found it has been tracked down to some nasty minded creep in California (where else!). It has infected several other sites and while at first it was thought to be just a nuisance further digging suggests that it could be far less benign so look to your protection.
AVG, (free download), manages to scoop it up but some others do not seem to so be warned and take care.
There is another topic on this in the “about this forum” section.
My Norton AV suite does not pick up any virus or trojan. Is it right when opening the SOC webpage?
Erik,
It seems to be the front page, certainly AVG flags it as soon as I click the icon for the SCO front page.
There are a lot of people who think Norton is, shall we say, rather pants. Try downloading AVG and give it a go, if you don’t like it then it uninstalls with no problem. Go to the eBay Community “HTML & Technical pages”, there is a pinned posting from “cuddly-hippo” that gives good step-by-step guidance on exactly what to do.
This has been going on too long, it is time the people hosting this site earned their keep and did a clean up.
Well, I personally have been using Norton for years without any problems… And at work we run the latest version of Mc Afee professional and that also has not picked up the virus….
I just performed a full scan on my computer and found nothing. So at least this virus did not transfer to my computer.
I tried to install AVG but the installation asked to remove Norton from my PC first. Well, to remove a paid for program that has served me well goes a bit to far. So I leave the experimenting to others this time ;o)
I’ve reloaded the home page and associated images, does anyone still get the virus warning (don’t forget to refresh your browser when checking otherwise you’re viewing the image from your browser’s cache memory) ?
Regards,
Hello Paul,
Everything is fine for me now, no warnings and the page loading is like a well tuned Scott.

Paul:
Yup! I’ve just had a really good hunt through my PC and all looks nice & clean again.
Page loading speed has also improved by something like a factor of 10 so thanks & well done!
That’s great, and thanks for your assistance, let me know if there are any further problems.
Regards,
