This is of course a very well known and respected bike. The oil tank retaining straps are very OTT, and it has sensibly been converted to dripper oiling, but apart from that it looks very original. The “provenance” especially the Mavro connection, will of course enhance its value, and I think that the last few hours/minutes of bidding will see the bidding go thru’ the roof.
It is a pity that the photos are not brighter and sharper, with some close-ups of details such as engine, carb, nickel plating condition, and so on. The photographer managed it with the lettering on the back of the headlamp, and the Mavro label, so it is a pity he didn’t try harder on other shots.

5 pounds today can buy the same as roughly 12 pence could back in 1930 when the bike was registered.

The two speeder would cost 12 *500/100 times the cost in 1930 say £70 ( i think thats what they cost new please advise)

Gives the cost of £ 4,200 if you could buy them new today (if my maths is correct). If its just sold for £ 9, 250 its more than doubled in value in real terms.

Maybe somebody should start manufacturing them again and make twice the profit 😆

But the real issue for me is if the price of Scott’s go beyond the reach of enthusiasts . What will the nature of the club become ? maybe the bikes will just become investment opportunities 😥 ans store dust

Its a fair cop..I bought the bike on e-bay for £9250 and now know why the photos were scabby in some areas. Maybe I should not have been so dissapointed but some of the bodges are shamefull. The rear stand in particular. Head lug looks cracked too. 2 speed gear has a Ward roller conversion aparently very desirable. I need to assess this bike fully, but do not have the experience ………any 2 speed experts local to CROYDON ??

Imagine my frustration afterwards to be offered a better 1930 Super from a local Scott owner so just like a jilted lover I “married” it to my garage so now I have 2 Scotts apart from the 22 model in long term restoration.

Once I have sorted where I am I will sell one bike onwards and it will probably be the Mavro e bay bike. Any offers of spares welcom

There are not enough hours left in life and the Scott riding experience cannot be put off longer!! Having recently moved from full time employmet to a part time consultancy role the froad awaits me!
