Hi all,
In May of this year I bought a “basket case” 1929 TT works bike, namely WX 179, and amongst the usual missing items, is the left-hand side twistgrip used on many works bikes and some early TT Replicas, to operate the magneto advance and retard, the idea being that the rider operated both twistgrips more or less simultaneously. Has anyone out there got one to spare please? I am aware that Binks, or perhaps Bowden, made a twistgrip that could easily be converted to L/H operation because the shape of the clamp half that the cable goes into was symmetrical, allowing a hole to be drilled for the cable on the other side. obviously one of those would be very acceptable too! Also, if I can find a R/H twistgrip with brass clamps instead of “Mazak” zinc alloy clamps, I could silver solder a brass boss onto it to enable a L/H conversion to be made. All must of course be for 1″ bars.
