I am dismantling the rear wheel of my the 1911 Scott ready for rebuilding both wheels on new rims. I have managed to remove the locking nut/ring which I eventually discovered was conventional right hand thread. Behind this is the rear sprocket which is carried on a slightly larger diameter thread. On real close inspection it appears also to be right hand threaded which I find difficult to believe as the action of the chain pulling against it would surely cause it to be loosened ? Can anyone condfirm whether the thread on the sprocket itself is right or left handed before I take out a very large hammer at the risk of busting the whole hub?
