Many thanks for your reply. I am now seriously considering cerise as a completely different approach – and a more safety-conscious alternative to all black. What is more cerise is likely to be in the spectrum of colours which I can see !
It’s always good to hear from fellow colour blind sufferers – my intended career in the Army Air Corps was cut short in a similar way to yours in the RAF.
My problem surfaced at primary school when my parents were accused of failing to teach me my colours correctly. My teacher had noticed that I painted trees up-side-down with the stumps green and the leaves brown. Later another teacher threatened me with detention when I coloured his diagrams of a sparrow as green as a parrot!
Anyhow , enough of that and back to assembling mudguards and so on !
