Some rules I have read in more than one place:
– if possible do not use a front sprocket smaller than 15 T as this puts a lot of strain on the outgoing axle and chain.
– make sure to choose such a combination of chain length and number of teeth on the front an rear sprocket that will not have the chain running over the same teeth everytime. If you know what I mean.
A first step would be to fit a 15 T front sprocket. This would shorten the final drive with about 6 percent and you can probably still use the same chain without having to shorten it (you can probably put the rear wheel a little more to the rear). This mod really made a feelable difference to my Yamaha SRX. And a front sprocket only is about 10-15 GBP so worth a shot.
