The first question is to ask why you want to do this and if you can acheive the desired end result some other way. Although the pump gets a hard time and has been much maligned by some they seem to have done a reasonable service at engine speed for many a decade provided they are kept adjusted correctly, good oil is used and the oil is clean!
If your current Pilgrim is running okay there is a strong arguement to leave well alone. I run Pilgrims on all my Scotts and have never had an issue with any of them at engine speed, and I regularly go over 5000rpm. Just my thoughts of course.
