Yes it is perfectly straightforward but I would much prefer that if the big end rings were not in good condition, to push them out and mill the beam sides.
Not the easiest thing to hold and you would need to go steadily.
You could grind it down but the time expended would be considerable which is ok if you are doing it for yourself. A job for a masochist!
