I’ll reply based on bikes I’ve got:
1. My one bike with the bolt on Scott foot change has an indent plate bolted to the gearbox and the appropriate bell crank to accept the spring/ball. If you have no gearbox case with the indent plate/holes then I’ve got 2 or 3 and I’d do you a straight swap if you wish.
2. There are 2 plates and one is kidney shaped as you say. I’ve got no good photos, the bike is buried under a few others and the kickstart side is to the wall. I’m afraid I’m going away in a few hours until the end of next week. If no-one else posts up in the meantime I can dig the bike out and do some photos and sketches. I’ll email you a couple of general pictures, I don’t have time to upload and link here right now.
My one point would be that I find the spring loaded Scott gearchange vague to say the least. I much prefer hand change and will be converting my foot change bike to hand change in the next month or two. At least with hand change when it says you are in low then you really are!
