Hi, A 1948 block was painted, a common paint used was Valspar Cardinal red but I doubt if it is available now. It was a dark red more of a maroon. Hycote do a Rover Burgundy which looks about the right colour, there is always an outside stall at Stafford that sells aerosol cans between 50p and £1. Most oil or celloluse paints won’t be affected by the temperature of a Scott block. Some time ago I wanted a small tin of paint but could not find anything less than 3/4 of a litre except for Japlac but was advised against this by the shop keeper. TED.
