Frame 455 could be either 1914 or 1919/20. Veteran Frame numbers are a bit of a mystery to me. Up to 1913 they seem to have had a 6 digit Frame No. In 1914 they started using a 3 digit number but stopped this sequence in 1916? Scotts then started frame numbers from about 100 in 1919 with Engine Nos in the 35nn range.

I would welcome more information about the early numbering system.

Scott seem to restart Frame Nos when a major change takes place. ie stirrup and oil in frame type to the drum rear brake Super type and again with the introduction of the short steering head. I imagine this is why Scotts always wanted customers to quote the engine number when ordering spares.
