Hi, The 1928 works TT bikes, and the first TT Reps, in late 1928, had the angular ‘trapezoid’ shape tank fitted, usually as an extra, and this continued into 1929. It was soon realised that they obstructed the fitting of a Magdyno, and that they were more expensive to make than a simple cylindrical type, so they were discontinued some time in the first half of 1929, and replaced by the cylindrical type, which was also fitted as an extra on the Flying Squirrel Deluxe and the Sprint Special. Incidentally the works bikes had the filler neck and cap on the left-hand side, but production bikes had them on the right-hand side. I have no idea why they bothered to change that detail !
