Many thanks for the input everyone.
I have double checked the drilled stud (well, a bolt that fits into the hole in the cylinder wall) and this appears to be 5/16″ diameter and 26 tpi.
I wonder if different studs were used on different barrels.
I suppose that I could drill out two bolts and use banjos and dome nuts as mentioned.
