I agree, sorry Rodger , I also don’t like using using silicone , as a marine engineer, we always faced the surfaces and then used an appropriate gasket ( you can’t teach an old dog new tricks 😀 ). What thickness of gasket, I’m never to sure, it needs to be thick enough to make it air tight but should not blow out with crank pressure ?
I’ll try your method first and then Rodgers if it leaks or I can’t get it nipped up enough
