It should be possible to get a Helicoil insert fitted to replace the worn thread, but I would suggest fitting a locknut too, as a belt-and-braces safety measure. Have you tried sif-bronze welding ? That may work… I have come across brass cone adjusters and ferrous ones too, so check it out with a magnet.
