Oh yes, I would put a .22 pellet into the loading tap of my Webley and SCOTT Mark 3 air rifle, and follow it up with a few drops of model diesel engine fuel, which was about one third ether. The gun would go off with a loud crack, and a flash out of the end of the barrel. The power seemed to be about doubled. Happy days in the early 1960s.
