My 1950 Flyer didn’t have an oil tap, and if your Pilgrim pump is in good order it isn’t a problem. If however the pump passes oil on standing there is a risk of a ‘hydraulic lock’ occurring when you next start up the engine. You can also fit an inline tap at the pump end of the supply pipe.
