Like Mike, I too would be interested to hear if anyone has succesfully coated over old Petseal – doesn’t sound likely to me.
Removal of old Petseal can be acheived with NitroMors liquid, which was in a yellow can when I bought it recently from B & Q. There is a green can, but that product is a viscous gel for brushing.
If you are to preserve the outer painted surface of the petrol tank, you need to take great care in taping up the exterior in a good poly wrapping.
