Magnetos suffer from wear and tear, coils, brushes, points ,as they have to work quite hard to produce a good spark at the correct time.
Electronic ignition systems have been around since the 1970’s, of which I have several examples, their main attribute is that they have no abrading parts , so no wear and adjusting necessary, and are not subject to water ingress .
