I suppose that the main problem with a magneto on a Scott is that it spins at engine speed, twice as fast as a mag on a four-stroke engine, so mechanically and electrically, they have a hard life. Compare it to the mag on single-cylinder four-stroke, it is spinning twice as fast and having to produce four times as many sparks !!
