With reference to the above and what I posted earlier. My 1948 Scott had a WM3 rear rim and the bike had a sidecar fitted when I bought it in 1954. I also have another post war Shipley Scott rear wheel that has a WM2 rim fitted. So you pays yer money and makes yer choice!
A tyre/rim chart that I have gives the following:-
WM2 Tyre sizes 2.75, 3.00, 3.10, 3.25, 3.50, 3.60
WM3. Tyre sizes 3.00, 3.10, 3.25, 3.50, 3.60, 4.00, 4.10.
