There were Webb Dirt-Track forks just like that on my Scott, which was ex-Derrick Shire, and they were rotten ! Derrick had made them look presentable by filling them with lead, but put himself in hospital in the process, when molten lead dropped onto the top of his foot, going down to the bone ! It must have been agony, and he was in hospital for about three weeks, and had to have a skin graft to get it to heal, but it left a big indented scar. Some cynics may say that it served him right for doing such a ‘repair’ on a safety-critical component !
