If you look at the catalogue photo for the late-Shipley coil ignition Flying Squirrel (1948,1949, and 1950), you can just make out the air filter that was offered as an accessory. It consists of a short, cranked, alloy induction stub, which screws onto the same thread that takes the bellmouth. Fixed onto the back of that is a drum-shaped steel filter, that has lots of holes around its periphery. The cover is held in place by a central screw. I have one on the shelf, but I always fail to post photos on this website, so can’t show it here. I have no problem posting photos on other sites, or emailing them, so what is the problem with this website !? Some people seem to have no problem….
