Have you spotted the 1924 two speed Scott for sale by Hereford Vintage Auctions? Their site – http://www.hvauctions.com – gives sparse details, the sale is on on Wednesday 9th March 2011. The Scott is ex Hamish Moffatt, who is worth a “Google”. He died in 2002 after leading a bizarre life centred around vintage vehicles and aircraft. For example, in 1953 he drove a 1923 11.9 Lagonda from England to Cape Town, and in the ’60s, after a divorce, lived in an MGB GT!
There are two more Scotts coming up for auction in the West Country. A nice early two speeder reg HT4940 with acetylene lights, a luggage carrier and a very strange looking fuel tank, tho’ it may be home made knee grips added to a std. tank. Also a 30’s flyer reg OU 84?? with electric lights, kite forks, and a dual seat.
They are with:
Richard Edmonds tel 01294 444544 http://www.richardedmondsauctions.com (details not yet on the website) the auction is at Castle Combe Circuit, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 7EY on June 11th.
It’s basically a car auction, so there may be a chance of a bargain!
