Dear all
I had a bit of a disaster with the clutch on my 3-Speed Super at the weekend. So first question – does any one have a complete – or any bits of – a 3-Speed Super Clutch – I need things like Thimbles, Clutch Race Cage (see below), rivets on the outside of the cage etc?…. No – thought not! So I’m resigned to spend a few hours at the lathe!!
A question though – the main clutch race on mine had a light brass cage holding the rollers in place – no face plate or anything – just the brass cage held in by the spring studs – and I suspect a couple of these came loose allowing the cage to wander and the rollers to dislodge…the rest being rather down hill.
I mentioned this race bearing cage to a couple of people who were suprised at this – implying they would expect to see only rollers. So my question is – what is the norm here a cage held in place by the spring studs or some sort of thin face plate?
All responses appreciated – Thanks – Graham
