Please check the posting in the members area of the forum for revised costs for the weekend event in March.
Thanks
Eddie
A number of people have said they have experienced some difficulty in logging on to the members area so I copy the cost here.
I must apologize for the confusion over the costings for this event. For various reasons the price stated in the Yowl document was higher than I would have wished. After negotiation with the school I have agreed new terms and the revised costings are shown below. To get to these I have withdrawn drinks from the price and I will now run a bar on both evenings. A charge will also need to be made to cover the cost of mini-bus use. I trust this meets with approval. Please contact me if you have any questions or post a general note on this forum. I would hope that those members who know of others in their area who do not have computer access would pass on this information. Please use the booking form as printed in the Yowl and include the £50 deposit as requested unless booking for the meal only when the full amount of £17.50 will secure the place. Again apologies for the confusion and thanks for your support.
For the full weekend B&B Friday & Sat.
Evening meal Friday & Sat plus Brunch on Sunday £105.00
Saturday evening/Sunday Sat. evening meal
B&B Sat. plus Brunch on Sunday £55.00
Saturday evening meal only £17.50

For all those that do not wish to rip their Yowl to pieces: under this link you will find a PDF download of the booking form.
Cheers,
Erik
Well, it seems we won’t be seeing you there after all…
My wife tried booking a ferry today and it appears that no ferry will accept a passenger that is over 7 months pregnant!
Reason is that they do not have a doctor on board (very reasuring idea…).
And we just booked a cottage and paid a non-refundable deposit….
I am not amused!
Erik
Hi Eric,
Abbotsholme will surely not be the same without you. I would suggest that you use Calais-Dover – ferry or chunnel. There they will not quarrel about pregnancies – it is a short crossing. You will have a 4 hour + drive to Calais, but you will probably save both time and money. Don’t give up!
Best regards,
Carl
Hi Carl,
The lady from P&O was very specific about this. It was max 7 months on rotterdam-hull and 7,5 months at calais-dover…. Also our travelagent (specialized in England) gave us very little chance…
But we are still looking for other options! Swimming perhaps ;o)
Erik
Hi again Eric,
What about the channel tunnel?
Best regards,
Carl
In between we have called all ferries and the only one that would except us is the ferry to Newcastle (and only just). But on that ferry there also is no doctor on board and that does not feel right to both of us (my wife being 8 months pregnant then).
The tunnel is quite a long drive south and north again in Britain and as our daughter is not very keen on driving this long trips could be a near disaster.
So after a lot of discussion we have decided that I will come alone. Of course by riding my 23 twospeeder from my home to Abbotsholme!
So see you all there after all!
Cheers,
Erik
Wow, you live adventures as Willy Fogg!!! Nice to hear that you will be coming to the event though it is a pitty of course that you didnt find a way to go with the family… have you considered them to go by plane?
We are also trying to find the best way to reach Abbotsholme and enjoy a nice scotting weekend!

Well flying is not permitted also when so far pregnant…
So, unless my wife and daughter grow some wings I guess there is little chance of us coming together.
But my mate Frank called me (also SOC member and on the forum) with the question if he could join me. So I might not come alone after all!
Tomorrow I will try and book a ferry. Not possible online as the computer does not think it is possible to book more than one vehicle in one booking….. Well, computers are all “1” or “0” anyway….
I wonder how many will come… Eddie, could you perhaps enlighten us on that subject?
Merry Christmas all!
Erik
Hi Erik,
I have been following your postings with some concern. You have been very supportive of the event from the outset and it would be a big disappointment to me also if you were unable to attend. I am sorry that you are not able to come as a family but pleased that you have decided to attend yourself.
I have been thinking that it may be the case that there are some Scott owners who live along the route that you would take from Hull with whom you may be able to join. I have not looked into this yet, but if anyone has any idea then please share.
At the moment there are 46 paid up members all for the full weekend event. 26 bikes of various ages. It looks to be a true Scott family event with members attending from Italy, Spain, Holland, Sweden and all over the UK many of whom are attending as a couple. I am concerned that for those with no computer connection the message may not be getting out quite as I would like and will be looking into how we can ensure this. I do think that I will have to keep the option of booking open beyond the 1st of Jan as originally stated to allow the message to get out and people to join in with what promises to be a great weekend.
By the way if anyone is thinking of sending any copy for the Feb Yowl please consider this over the break as I have very little so far. I am particularly interested in articles on riding early machines for this edition as I would like to cover the age range of production over the years six editions.
A very happy Christmas to all.
Eddie
Hi Eddie,
This morning I have booked the ferry for me and Frank. So we will be coming for sure! With almost 30 bikes it will be great event! Looking forward to it already.
Could you please let us know how Frank and I (and possible other members from abroad) can pay? In Holland we do not have cheques….
Will there be any coverage of this event in de classic bike magazines? Should be good! I know Douglas’ centenial this year got quite some coverage (even in Holland). I will at least make as much pictures as possible (looking into the possibility of a Scott mounted camera for action videos!) and write an article or two.
Would it be perhaps be possible to leave booking open till after next Yowl so anyone could hear of the new entry fee?
Merry Christmas,
Erik
Hey, so nice to hear that there are so many people already…
Eddie, I would like to confirm that Juan Carlos (my friend) and I will be coming to the event with a combination Flying Squirrell 1949 + Watsonian. Please make the booking of the rooms and let us know how much and how should we pay. We have the experience of paying through IBAN Code which is the international number linked to any bank account and the method we use to pay the SOC as there is no chance for us to pay by check either.
Just to let you know, I am also waiting for another friend of mine to check if he is able to come with us these days but please answer me back about the booking (I wouldnt like to find you are all booked!!)
Merry Christmas and a happy new year

Hi all,
in reply to my question how can I pay as a foreigner for the Abbotsholme weekend.
In the Netherlands we don’t have any cheques no more.
Eddie Shermer replied to me that I can pay when I get at Abbotsholme.
That is a super thing for me or maybe us as foreigners.
It’s a step from Eddie to make us foreigners more than welcome at Abbotsholme.
Thanks
Frank
Well, just emailed with Eddie and there are now 70 entries and over 40 machines! And still more expected!
So be there or be square!
