Iam racing at East Fortune this Saturday but can come down to the AGM from Edinburgh Saturday night. Who has copy of the Agenda. I cannot get Andy marfell or Martin Hodkin. Why the secrecy????

Ex Editor Yowl
Dear Ted
You will be having trouble trying to be in two places at once. The AGM is on Saturday 16th April. Guess we won’t be seeing you.
Doh!!!!!
Thanks Jon. Now you know why I’m no the Editor anymore

I am unable to attend at the AGM – is there really no provision for proxy voting ?
I would like to ask that question too!
– and so would I! ❓
Yes add me to that list too…
Me too – its our sons 21st on Saturday and we will be with him in London
Colin
Proxy voting is of considerable significance to overseas members who otherwise have no way of expressing their approval or otherwise in the way our club is managed.
Roger Hulett
You are correct. THis subject needs addressing.
If I become able to give help on this issue, I will encourage proper consideration so.
It depends on who turns up at our AGM today and how they vote.
I have already been castigated by our current chairman for posting a notice on this message board that I will stand for election as club chairman.
As I said, this is democracy!
However, if Yowl is to be a “contention free zone”, then where will members go to express their ideas for changes to improve our club?
I am a little nervous this morning.
I do not look for trouble
I find there is enough in life without looking for it,
Kind Regards to all
Roger
Are there no facilities for members to request amendments to club rules or the club constitution between AGMs?. I am not suggesting that there should be extraordinary AGMs or other drastic action, but,for example. the question of proxy voting could and should be addressed before the next AGM or it will be another year of disenfranchisement for us overseas members and those who cannot attend the AGM for other reasons,if it is necessary to wait for 2006 to propose an amendment.
The SOC is no longer a local UK club.
If we are to operate as a world wide club, we need to take steps to ensure that none UK members can be kept informed and have their wishes properly taken into account when changes are considered.
Can I suggest that our management needs to have some proof that changes are called for by none UK members.
I suggest that anyone who wishes proxy or postal voting, should send a notification. As neither our chairman, Martin Hodkin, nor our acting secretary Andrew Marfell have a computor, I suggest that you send emails to our membership secretary Richard Tann at
tannandsons@aol.com
or by post to
Richard Tann. SOC Memb. Sec.
88 Deacons Hill Road
Elstree,
Herts. WD6 3JQ
Richard is on the management comittee and is fully committed to making our club more “user friendly”
Please tell any friends in your locality who do not have internet facilities, in case they also wish to be more included. Perhaps you could send on their behalf.
Kind Regards
Roger Moss
I talk to Andrew most days I suggest you ring about 22.00 Ted let the phone ring hes often upstairs
Dear Roger Hulett
This is how slowly democracy works I am afraid, unfortunately there are downsides besides any benefits that it may have. For example, passed at this year’s AGM is an item that possibly affects yourself as an overseas member. If you wish to change anything within this Club from now on a proposer will have to attend an AGM in person along with the seconder to present any proposal they wish to make. On the agenda as an adjunct to this proposal was the phrase ” N.B. Overseas members may be subject to special consideration when the need arises.” Hopefully this will be included when the Constitution is amended, even so it will presumably be at the discretion of whoever is in the Chair at the AGM. So if you wish to put forward the proposal for Proxy Votes you may be better off finding two people in the UK willing to support you. As well as submitting the proposal they would have to attend next year’s AGM, whenever that is. For me I guess the knockabout entertainment made the 400 mile round trip to the AGM worthwhile this year but as each year passes I am beginning to wonder if it is worth the time and expense. It was a shame that I had other commitments that precluded riding a bike there as it was such a good day.
