Any AMAL carb experts out there?
I recently purchased a refurbished AMAL carburettor from a club member to replace the rather worn one on my Brum Scott. After upping the main jet from 170 to 190 I duly fitted and connected the fuel supply to the float chamber, turned on the petrol tap and there was fuel everywhere! I assumed that I hadn’t seated the fuel supply properly to the float chamber top. Disconnected, refitted and the same result. Took the chamber top off to swop it with my old one and on inspecting it I found that four holes had been drilled around the lower part of the petrol union thread at 90 degrees to each other. Why? No wonder fuel went everywhere!
