My 2002 Gas Gas Pampera trail bike is factory fitted with an electronic bicycle type speedo, just went through it’s MOT. It failed the first time for being too noisy and having a buckle in the front wheel, but the speedo wasn’t mentioned, so I guess it’s OK.

These speedos to which Richard refers are available at Halfords for about a tenner, and they’re really straightforward to fit and calibrate. However, you then have the puritanical dilemma of having electronics on your Scott!

If you have seen the picture of my Scott youll see that its a bit too far gone to worry about originality!

Have just recieved the spares list from Gill Swan,and am amazed at how
much is availiable!

This is just the boost i needed so it looks like itll be a lot easier to get it road worthy than i thought!

Hi all,
ive since found out on an MOT site that

” You will be pleased to hear that the speedometer is not checked in the MOT. The Tester would simply note that the motorcycle has no speedometer”

I shall now just fit a cycle computer so i know what speed im doing.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to remove the engine to gearbox chain?

hi Gang,

Nearly right Lewis (sounds like an Inspector Morse script?).

Speedos were compulsory from October the 1st 1937 on all machines above 150cc.

Even better,as i have a feeling mine was registered in march 1937,
unfortunately the numberplate was stolen before i got to it,
by the likes of Andy Tiernan,Classic British bikes and the like.
