A number of new forum accounts have recently been registered and are pending activation…
WE NEED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BEFORE WE CAN ACTIVATE ANY NEW FORUM ACCOUNT
if you are waiting for your forum account to be activated please could you send an email to webmaster@scottownersclub.org confirming your chosen username. This is because the automated account activation emails sent by the forum are not sufficient to verify that the account has actually been created by a person š®
AND FOR CLUB MEMBERS you will also need to include your current membership number in this email if you wish to have access to the Forum Members’ Area. Again, this is required so that we know you are a human :D, rather than the thousands of spambots š which try and register on this forum every week. Unfortunately accounts will not be activated until this step has been completed.
There are some more instructions on how to register (and a detailed explanation of the above) in the link below.

Many thanks,
hello, I’m not sure if I am a member having applied to be one in January this year. My user name is IMcR and my password is stored with you. the last message I had was that my application was awaiting approval. As far as I remember I haven’t paid a membership fee. Richard Tann sent me a couple of “Yowl” copies.
I understand the SOC has been invaded by some spam, which has glued things up for you somewhat.
My interest is in buying a “project” I have managed to get an old Ariel VB and a Velocette KTS on the road over the past few years and I’m looking for a Scott that needs some TLC, at a sensible price.I am keen to find a local Scott owner local to me in N Wales (St Asaph) for help and guidance.
Also access to previous copies of Yowl and particularly any info. on Scott workshop books.
Any help appreciated,
regards,
Ian Reid
Hi Ian
This is a new web site and it is not running properly yet ! so at this moment in time you are talking into a very large hole,
hopefully someone of importance will see your shout for help .
The main book you require is “The book of Scott” which is effectively an owners Handbook and workshop manual , they can be found in second hand book shops and on ebay,
there is also a webb site called Scott technicalities , this also has a lot of information and may be of help to you
regards Barrie Sittingbourne Kent
I’m tagging onto this thread because I cannot make head nor tale of the forum any more. What am I doing wrong?
Ian, there is a 2 speeder in large pieces advertised in the vmcc journal this month if you want to jump in at the deep end!
Barrie’s recommendations are spot on. Good luck.
This piece of crap called a club website is in limp mode, the tag system will not work on my puter , nor does most of the other features .
This cost the club over £7K, it does not work , LEWIS SORT OUT THE PROBLEM NOW !
Barrie, whilst agreeing with & understanding your frustration please also bear in mind this club is not a business in the true sense & that any officers of the club are unpaid volunteers who we rely on to keep things ticking over. Iām sure the powers that be are well aware of the issues, having run forums myself over the years I also know these do not always run smoothly, in fact they can be a total nightmare when things go wrong or unexpected problems occur.
On a brighter note I hope everyone manages to get out over this glorious Easter break & get some riding on our favourite marque, looking forward to tomorrow mornings little jolly, ride safely Nigel
This site is only over a YEAR late !
The officers of this club ( which is a limited company ) are also directors , are they not?
Therefore they are all equally responsible for this shambles,
so if you are an officer Nigel and a volunteer it makes no difference.
then you all carry the can.
This year I want to go to Beamish and I want to talk to others about this subject, it’s impossible for me to contact anyone ,
if this and other club events has a poor attendance or goes wrong because of no communication it is down to the directors
Dear Barrie,
For your information Lewis is on a much needed holiday. Judging by your comments I don’t think you can have any idea of the vast amount of his own time that Lewis has put into the new website to bring it to its current position. Teething problems are unfortunate but will no doubt be sorted as soon as possible.
Martin
A year on is not a “teething problem” it’s a mess!
The old site should not have been taken down till the new site was running properly, other clubs do this all the time and the transition is seamless
This laid back attitude just make this club look old fashioned, pre computer .
Must admit the site has me perplexed, WordPress won’t allow some account actions because of my security settings, my browser warns me about visiting the site at all, as the certificates are “Bad”.
I seem to have lost my subscriptions – which brings me back to WordPress —
Oh dear.
Mike.
Well guys, I,m beat, well its beaten me so I will just stay with the memories and use facebook.
Its a shame because the old site was easy to use and was friendly. This is a nightmare.
