Back brake lever return spring wanted

Gents, my back brake lever seems to not have a return spring fitted and I know this because it has recently started binding. My bike is the 1929 three speeder with the right hand foot pedal in front of the footpeg and the long rod going to the sprung barrel which fits onto the arm on the back wheel. Where the foot pedal pivots through the frame, the one with the grease nipple, there should be a spring and I haven’t got one.

Does anybody have one please and are there any images someone can send over which show its fitment position because I can’t visualise it yet.

Will, this is what I have on mine. Not sure if it is 100% correct, but it works for me!

Hi Dave. Interesting. Your top picture shows a long lever going down and your brake rod connects to the bottom of this and gives you ample room to clip a return spring on to.

I am having trouble attaching a photo of my scenario but needless to say that I haven’t got that long downward pointing lever you have (mine is much shorter) and having that would rectify the situation. This is the part I suppose I am after and I can source a spring easily. A bit of welding would sort this out and it is hidden behind the frame…………

Hi Will

It would probably be easier to make an extended brake rod pivot pin/bolt and attach the return spring to that.
