Big-end side plates: Main bearing screwed side plates

I have noticed a plea for big-end & mains side plates, (if that’s what they are called, I’m new to the acane mysteries of Scott nomenclature!), and from what I read there seem to be no stock.

I was wondering how many might be needed as I can make some if there is any interest, I need some for my basket case anyway.

I was considering “gauge plate” hardened and tempered down to say 58/60 Rockwell C but a case-hardening steel might be better, (hard surface, tough core) – anyone any thoughts on best material?

I am trying to compile a complete list of who makes what and have suggested to Paul Wilson, our Webmaster, that we have a section where this info can be displayed. It can be also put in Yowl and supplied to the Spares scheme so they can refer enquiries if they can not supply themselves.
A “Yellow Pages” of independent suppliers of service, spares and info, should be of help to new members
