Birmingham Scott ignition points

On behalf of a non connected-up member, does anyone know where he can obtain a set of Lucas points for a Birmingham Scott? I have spoken to Geoff C who thinks there may be car points from the period that can be substituted, or those from a Douglas Dragonfly. Anyone know for sure? Any other clues?

All part of the mem sec’s duties!

I did this search a while ago. If you type in the distributor model and the word points you will come up with the UK suppliers. KP

These points suit the Lucas distributor on my 57 Brum.

If it’s a Lucas distributor then it’s a DKX2 and they are available on Ebay. If it’s a dreaded Miller contraption then the L shaped adjustable half can be obtained from a very early Renault 4 set whilst the rocking part is from a Heinkel Kabine 3 wheeler bubble car (and the other adjustable a well). These are available from Ebay America.

If it has the Lucas DKX2 distributor then the points from the Sunbeam S7 or S8, which uses the DKX2, will fit. Stewart Engineering, the S7 – S8 specialists, for them. Good to deal with and have stuff for the Lucas 70 watt pancake generator as well. The S7 – S8 used that too.
The DKX4 was apparently popular on pre war, the big one not the great one, English cars. I know little of cars so I do not know what type of car.

The biggest user was probably Ford, as it was used on the Model Y Tudor.

And…. don’t forget that it is the Lucas DKX2A rather than DKX2, with the ‘A’ denoting Anticlockwise.
