Phill In answer to your questions about Brum XUA 277. It is indeed the first Brum to leave the line. Frame S1001.Engine DPY 5484. I found it about 10 years ago and it still lives a few miles away in the hands of my good friend Ken. It was the first of about 300 brums built between 1956 and 1981. I have photos of it new taken on the IOM in June 1956 at the TT. Geoff Case, Compiler of the Birmingham Scott Register.

Brilliant ! Great to know she’s still around and also as a bonus first off the line. At the time I was aware that a photo of the first ‘new’ Scott was available but never bothered too much as I assumed, from memory, it was the 1954 prototype. Shame that photo’s cannot be posted to the site as I wouldn’t mind seeing how she looked when new plus somewhere I have a colour photo in my ownership. Don’t suppose a road test was ever published of the bike, the only one I have is about the 1960’s racer?

Hi Geoff
Once again many thanks. I’ve just had a quick look on the Morton’s site which has highlighted a few articles of interest. I’ll get back to you if I can’t find what I want.
