No Brian, your right its not all wear, unfortunately it has been skimmed before at least once, as confirmed by a Rudge specialist who has also identified both the hub and backplate from a Rudge Ulster with the wide brake set-up which is most wanted by the racing fraternity I was told, not that they will get it from me as the wheel and brake will be most useful when repaired. Just require any info as to who may be able to carry out the work, some advertise wheel drums skimmed without the removal of the tyre, but I suspect that the wheel rim will need to be removed as the hub is so thin the spokes have probably been adjusted too much and pulled the drum out of round, then trued up before fitting internal ring, then wheel rebuilt and finally a light skim to make sure its round and correct size. If only I had a big gap bed lathe I would do it myself. Cheers anyway Kev
