British Two-Stroke Club road run August 11th

Hi, The next Eastern Section meeting of the SOC is on Sunday August 11th, and like last year, this coincides with a British Two-Stroke Club road run just up the road a couple of miles at the Lime Kiln pub, in the village of Cropwell Bishop, Notts., not to be confused with the next village, which is Cropwell Butler !
So, I intend to go there instead of our usual venue. The BTSC are a VERY friendly and laid-back club, and always welcome Scott owners and riders, as well as any other two-strokes. In fact they don’t even mind if you ride a four-stroke in their run ! The run starts at 10-00am, so turn up before 9-30am to be in plenty of time for signing on, etc.. I’m not sure if I will be riding this year, as I don’t have a Scott currently on the road, and I have sold the MZ-ETZ that I rode last year, whilst my 1972 VeloSoleX, with it’s tarmac-ripping 0.8 bhp, is not really suitable !!!

That sounds good and I should be able to make it on the Scott (the RG500 is not currently tested or taxed). If daughter passes her CBT she should also be able to join me on her RD125DX which would be nice. I’m happy to take you pillion if you want though I may need to do something about the security of the mudguard. Currently, the whole mudguard is prevented from pivoting by the rather small bolt onto the gearbox tray. The stays look nice but are not doing their job properly.

Someone who I had a lot of contact with some years ago (due to me having a 2 stroke Panther) is in the BTSC. If anyone knows or sees Nick Kelly could they pass on my regards 😀

John Underhill had a two-stroke Panther, with Villiers 2T engine, and Earles-type forks. One day while riding through Leicester, with his son on the pillion, the forks broke and the wheelbase suddenly increased ! The bike subsided down onto the twin exhaust pipes, which acted like skids, and the bike slowly ground to a halt, with neither John nor his son falling off.

I did this run last year and can reccomend it to anyone, a pleasant ride through the countryside finishing at the pub, what more could you ask? unfortunately this year I cannot be there as my kitchen is in a thousand pieces and my wife is waiting patiently for me to get it back together.
