Classic bike "sympathetic" MOT station

My ’58 Birmingham Scott is due its first MOT under my ownership, and I wonder if anyone knows of any MOT stations in the Huddersfield/Dewsbury area that are “symapthetic” to classic bikes ?

Not that there is anything particularly wrong with it, but I know my dad always took his Scott’s to a friend for MOTing just to be sure, but that was in Scotland !

In my experience the first rule is not to go to a modern bike dealer. All the ones I’ve ever tried, having lived all over the UK, have been so unfamiliar with old stuff that it is almost impossible to get a pass. I find that car MOT stations with a licence for bikes are most open minded. Good luck.

For anyone down here near Oxford, W J Taylor & Sons in Drayton regularly do MOTs’ on classic bikes. It is a real old village garage and he owner runs a selection of bikes himself. I was told yesterday that he is also a Scott owner and has a couple of Silks.

Also, I believe that Aspire Classic Restorations in Oxford do MOTs.
