CON RODS ?

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE CENTRE PUNCH MARKS ON THE CON RODS ❓ IS THERE A PECULIARITY BETWEEN THE RODS OR IS IT JUST A METHOD OF HAVING EACH ROD RETURN TO IT’S PREVIOUS PLACE.
