I took up Steve Enticotts’ very kind offer of “Technicalities” on CD recently, and was interested to see the crankcase oil seal modification which seems to offer all the advantages with no drawbacks.
Talking around however, it has been suggested there may be a problem with oil feed being forced back toward the pump during the crankcase compression cycle.
Has anyone out there encountered any problems with this modification?
I am rebuilding a 1948 Flyer which seems to have had a very hard life to date, and one problem area (among many) has been the rear brake.
The brake back plate anchorage had been broken out and very badly welded up. Ken Lack very kindly produced a superb casting out of his hat which I machined to original drawing.
Then, as always seems to happen, I tripped over a complete wheel at an auto jumble, which is now on the ‘bike.
So, if anyone wants a properly webbed and gusseted brake plate, come back to me at jonnann@UKOnline.co.uk
