Fitting side stand to 1934 Flying Squirrel

Balancing the bike whilst lowering the rear stand and then pulling the bike back onto the stand seems difficult and hazardous, to me and the bike. I would like to fit a side stand. Has anyone done this? There is a very convenient circular hole in the frame just to the rear of the front down tube. Could I use this? Where might I get a suitable stand? Any comments much appreciated.

Hi My 1936 Scott reynolds plunger is fitted with a sidestand(has no main stand)

I will post a photo up tomorrow.

It is fitted in the position you describe,with a small oblong plate as a mounting bolted through that hole.

I found a pic of a Scott currently for sale in Holland which has a sidestand. Looks like a aftermarket universal part. Maybe this helps.

I’ve a ’37 flyer with a side stand mounted exactly as per the photo from Holland – I find it very useful when pulling the bike onto the rear stand. Mine’s stamped ‘BSA’ on one half of the casting that clamps round the frame tube – so I can guess where it came from!
