For the first time in many years the Scott Owners Club had a presence at the Founders Day rally held at Stanford Hall on Sunday 23 July. The stand was organised by Jim Best, Colin Morris and Richard Duffin, with assistance on the day from Dennis Harris, Ernie Thomas, Les and Molly Scott, Ernie and Joyce Scott, Gill and Jon Hodges and myself. The focus of the day was Birmingham Scotts (in their golden jubilee year) with shining examples supplied by Jim Best and Ernie Thomas. Other machines in attendance were 3 TT reps from Reg Hargrave, Jeff Reed and Richard, and a Silk 700s.
Many club members came to visit the stand during the day to enjoy the free tea and biscuits offered, good to see John Underhill, Frank Glover, Martin Brench, Paul Wilson, Ian Parsons, Martin Hecksher, Richard Martin, Dennis Wray and Stan Thomas, and many others that I haven’t mentioned! It was particulary good to see Roger Moss in excellent spirits after his unfortunate tumble, and Marina, still smiling! The club were invited to a turn around the parade ring and Reg, Jim and Richard took full advantage of this to show off their machines.
A lot of interest was shown towards the club with new members signing up on the day, and much interest shown for the annual rally in September.
All in all it was a very successful and enjoyable day, lets hope we can make this a regular feature in the Scott Owners Club calendar.
