Beware! Amal and Binks top feed float tops are not necessarily interchangeable. I could not find a reason for my bike, now featured on the home page of this website, not starting until I checked fuel height. I had decided to tidy the bike up, after its racing life, and put it back on the road. As the Binks float tops were a bit tatty I bought two clean amal ones from an auto- jumble. When I checked the needle seat drilling depth the Amal was holding the fuel level more than 1/8″ below the jet. Having seen many Scxotts with starting difficulties I wonder how many people check fuel heights properly?
