Help needed on lower Radiator hoze

I have been trying to fit my new radiator as made by Jon Hodges but have hit a problem. The hoze I purchased from the spares scheme is too rigid to fit between the head and lower radiator connection. I had noticed on Sunday at the rally that some machines had a small flexible hoze fitted with enough compliance to fit the between head & radiator. Can anyone tell me where I can get one of these hozes. I would be most grateful for any help on this matter.

Others may frown – but I use standard 1″ flexible car radiator hose on my ’38 flying squirrel. It’s a bit tricky to find – but ‘Unity Motor Spares’ (a group in the Surrey area) stock it at roughly £15 a metre – sold by the 1/3 metre.

I had exactly the same problem, and I went to a washing machine repair shop and bought a non reinforced hose, which I then cut to length and fitted. It cost £1 and I have enough for five Scotts.

Contact Bob Tricket. He had the genuine item. A year ago they were £5 pounds each. Ignore the malicious rumours, he has always been honest and prompt with his delivery of parts to me. The real thing may last longer than the washing machine item, I don’t know!

All the scruffy sods walking round the Rally have canabalised their washing machines for radiator hose!
