Eight years ago, I bought through Lewis a set of nickeled inverted levers meant for my Scott TT rep. The left hand lever is used for the clutch release, but the center distance between the lever pivot screw and the cable nipple cradle is too short –
1 1/4″. I ought to have this distance increased to 1 1/2″ or 1 3/4″. The levers were made in Germany and bought from Swen Dolenc, if I remember correctly.
Ideally, I need a new left hand lever, or if possible, to have my present lever re-welded and drilled.
any tips or good ideas will be appreciated.

The LH inverted lever is used to operate the decompressor , the clutch normally is operated by a lever as fitted to later machines.Regards DF
May I recommend the Bowden clutch levers available from Peter Rosenthal (Pete’s Bikes):

I know that the inverted lever originally was used for decompression, but since my decompressor has been deactivated, I thought that it would be smart and good-looking to use the inverted lever as a clutch lever, but it has been very difficult to adjust it to operate successfully.
I will follow Lewis’ suggestion and install a Bowden replica lever for the clutch, in addition to the inverted lever, which will be kept as a decorative item.
Although I am more than satisfied with Peter Rosenthal’ services (he overhauled my Pilgrim pumps), I will anyway order the Bowden lever from Jiri Horice in Brno, as suggested by Brian.

If you wish to you could use the inverted lever as a ignition cut out ,,it works for me . Regards D F.
The original intention was that pulling the inverted lever half-way operated the half-compression valves, then the mag cutout when pulled right back to the handlebars. There are two or three articles in “Technicalities” with diagrams of the gizmo involved in both operations.

My bike is daylight only and has no wiring apart from the plug leads. I have been looking for an appropriate switch to fit a magneto cutout to stop the engine so I can set the carb to tick over when the throttle is closed. On the face of it it would seem that fitting one of these inverted levers could be the perfecct solution. Has anyone a spare one or parts of one they would be willing to sell? The bike has 7/8 th bars.

Hi Derek, I have a new pair available but they are for 1″ OD handlebars. I suppose that the bit that goes inside the bars could be turned down to suit your bars. Send me a PM if you are interested.

A two stroke is a much nicer bike to ride with a throttle that shuts off the engine with no tickover, On a four stroke yes, but on a twostoke you descend a hill or just on the over run you will get a series of jerky pops.
