Hello All

I am looking for information on what I believe is a 1936 Super Squirrel.
I have been searching for some time to determine what this motorcycle really is.
The engine is stamped DPZ4256 which equates to a 1936 Super Squirrel 498cc twin cylinder.
The front end fork is a girder style fork assembly but it has a closed or covered spring.
There is also a rear plunger style suspension assembly.

I will try to post a picture.

If anyone can give me information about this motorcycle I would appreciate it.

Hi, Not a Super Squirrel, they ended in 1931. It is a Flying Squirrel with modified Webb front forks, and a grafted-on plunger rear suspension set-up. The petrol/oil tank appears to be from a different model, a TT Replica model.

Like nearly all bikes from before WW2, parts get damaged, tanks rust out, and modifications got carried out to ‘modernise’ them. Your engine/frame pairing could well be original, and you should check in the factory records held by the VMCC. and of course join the SOC !

The rear suspension looks from the photograph, to be a Reynolds type plunger. I have a similar setup on a 1932 frame. I will check the frame number (the frame is hanging up in the garage)

The engine would be about Aug 1936. Where did you find the frame number? It should be on the n/s of the headstock. 4235 would be about 1936.

I have this frame number on the Register but am uncertain if it is the same bike. If you want further information you need to pm me.
