Magneto information

Hi, I’ve just found an interesting website with lots of factual information about magnetos and dynamos. I had not realised until reading some of the stuff that on a twin-cylinder magneto, as fitted to a Scott, the spark at each cylinder is of opposite polarity, jumping either from the centre electrode to the side electrode, or vice-versa, with the erosion of the electrodes being different.
Does this mean anything important ? Should we switch plugs from one cylinder to the other occasionally ?

When occasionally changing plugs from side to side should the rider dismount ,If so he could change his boots that should then even out wear to his sole.

Hi Brian,
One plug will erode the centre electrode, the other the outer electrode, so swopping from side to side is probably benificial to plug life. This doesn’t effect me as both plugs fire together on my bike
