Hi all, our Northern Section Secretary Martin Hodkin has problems trying to post messages on this website, and has asked me to make the following announcement :-
Members will recall that the subject of the Northern Section meeting at Bradford Museum on Dec.1st 2013, was the Scott motorcycle and the uses they were put to in the First World War.
Northern Section member Graeme Rimer had carried out research about the latter, and obtained considerable information with regard to the subject. This was enhanced by photographs and literature brought to the meeting by other members.
Since that time Graeme has carried out more research into the Motor Machine Gun Service, especially its use of Scott ‘Gun Carriers’, and other specially-designed motorcycle combinations, and how these were related to the deployment of machine guns by other Machine Gun Corps in British service during the First World War.
This information will be the subject of the meeting at Bradford Industrial Museum on Sunday, December 4th at 1 pm.
Should members of the SOC other sections wish to attend the meeting, they will be very welcome. Our meetings take place in the Museum Lecture Room.
The address is as follows :- Bradford Industrial Museum, Moorside Mills, Moorside Rd., Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD2 3HP. Tel: 01274 435900
Best wishes to all SOC members,
V. Martin Hodkin, Secretary SOC Northern Section.
That sounds fascinating. I really envy you Northern boys 🙂
