My recent t acquisition

I have recently collected the Scott that was left to me by my uncle in his will. It is a complete bike that has been dismantled, I have the frame, forks, engine minus pistons, clutch and gearbox and tank. I want to register this with the club, where do I find the frame number and engine number. There is no mag control levers or headlight. I was told by him that it was a late 30’s Flying Squirrel.

The frame number is usually on the left hand frame lug near the top of the steering head. The engine number on both sides of the crankcase below the barrels and above the crankcase doors.

I have found the engine number which is FY 1140 A. I have not as yet located the frame numbercas yet. However the magneto, pistons, crank case doors and pilgrim pump have been located, much happier now.

Any help in identifying the year and model would be very helpful. The frame has been stripped many years ago primed and painted black. It will need doing again so I will look for the frame number aided by paint stripper a wire brush and scraper.

I can tell you that the engine is 596cc and is from 1928. If you are a SOC member, Ian  Parsons the club machine registrar (details in Yowl) will be able to give you further details.

I am a member of the  Scott owners club and will submit the details of the machine when I have the frame number. My uncle tod me this was much later than 1928, he thought it was late 30’s 1937 to be exact.

I have found the frame number after some work and it is clearly 2202 any more information please

I believe the frame number relates to 1929. Check with Ian Parsons.

I have a record card for a 3 Sp Flying Squirrel with FY 1140A for an owner in Bradford. There is no record of the Frame number but the registration number UA 4697 is a Leeds issued number in Jul/Aug 1928. It’s not on the DVLA database. Could this be the bike?
