yes that’s me, let me introduce my self , my name is Barrie , i’m in Kent and I have a ’47 machine with an engine number of DPY 49xx, the machine is in good order but ,….. the cylinder block Is completely shot, so if any of you out there have a complete engine ,or block and pistons to offer I would be grateful
I am going to sleeve this cylinder block, the main thing I am short of is pistons , so I am looking for pistons to suit DPY engine (long stroke 600 cc ), any size will do ,but preferably as near to standard as possible (73 mm )
Eddie Shermer rebuilt my engine last year (or was it the year before?) with pistons obtained from the SOC Shop. I imagine that they had to be machined, but if you are an engineer, that should pose no problems.
I suggest that you have a chat with Eddie (his telephone number is inside the front cover of Yowl).
Failing that, I may have a set of 600cc long stroke TT Rep pistons,
Hi Barrie, I have a complete engine DPZ 4401, can’t recall exactly when I purchased it but it was some time before 1972 when I moved to Norfolk,I don’t think after all this time I am going to get round to using it. It looks a bit rough cosmetically, but turns over with a healthy pop. The previous owner said it had been overhauled, but it had obviously not been stored very well before I bought it. I would be happy for you to lift the block to check out rings, bores, pistons, etc if you wanted to buy the complete unit, I wouldn’t really want to break it. Give me a call on 01553 636307 if you are interested. Jeff Reed.
